MIAMI (AP) — A section of parking garage under construction at a Miami-Dade College campus has collapsed and a fire official says some workers are trapped in the rubble.
Miami-Dade Fire-Rescue Lt. Arnold Piedrahita tells WSVN-TV that some workers could be heard calling from help inside the rubble shortly after Wednesday’s collapse.
Television reports showed several workers being treated by paramedics at the scene.
Authorities say no students were in the area at the time.
The multistory garage is being built at the Miami-Dade College campus in the western part of the county. TV reports show one large section of the concrete structure collapsed.
