Gloria Brackett – the 52 year old woman pictured here was arrested Sunday after repeatedly brandishing a gun at Congressman Trey Gowdy – Republican 4th District SC.
According to the police report, Gowdy was in his car waiting in line at Spartanburg First Baptist Church to pick up his daughter when Brackett approached him with a gun and accused Gowdy of following her. Gowdy repeatedly told Brackett that he was not following her, but she continued to point the gun at him after which he drove to a police station and reported the incident.
Gowdy was then given a police escort back to the church where Bracket was still there and she was arrested on the spot. She was charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol and pointing and presenting a firearm. She is being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
A news conference is expected at City Hall on Monday morning at 11:30 a.m. where more details will be given.
