CLARK COUNTY REPUBLICAN PARTY CALLS ON NATIONAL CONVENTION TO REJECT POWER PLAY BY RNC ELITE | THE JEENYUS CORNER

Las Vegas, Nevada

In an emergency meeting held tonight via teleconference, the Executive Board of the Clark County Republican Party, the largest county Republican Party in Nevada (and one of the largest county parties in the United States), voted to formally and urgently call upon the delegates to the 2012 Republican National Convention to reject certain new rules that have been proposed by the convention’s Committee on Rules and Order of Business.

The new proposals, crafted by lobbyist and political consultant Benjamin Ginsberg (and approved by the Rules Committee on a narrow margin), would empower the Republican National Committee to change the party rules in-between national conventions, thereby destroying the system of checks and balances imperative to preventing tyrannical control of our party. Even more egregious are the new provisions which would subject the Republican Party to a nomination process completely controlled by elite party officials, consultants and power brokers, rather than a process based on the conservative principles that the GOP and our country were founded upon.

Under these proposed rules, the new nationalized nomination process would force every state to bind their delegates, and would give the candidate to whom they are bound veto power over their credentials, effectively nullifying the role of state and local parties in electing delegates to the national convention.

This attempted coup by the consultants and national party elite would completely disenfranchise all rank and file Republicans, and is in absolute contradiction with the values that have long guided our Republican Party.

The Clark County Republican Party refuses to stand idly by and allow this Marxist style power grab to go unnoticed. We are sounding the alarm in the hope that the delegates to the 2012 national convention from all backgrounds and beliefs will join together to protect our state parties and the conservative traditions that have guided Republicans for generations.

A copy of the resolution:

RESOLUTION  NUMBER E-105

TO ADOPT AN EXECUTIVE RESOLUTION OF THE

CLARK COUNTY REPUBLICAN PARTY EXECUTIVE BOARD

AN EXECUTIVE RESOLUTION TO CONDEMN AND CALL FOR THE REJECTION

OF CERTAIN PROPOSED RULES OF THE REPUBLICAN NATIONAL COMMITTEE;

AND PROVIDING FOR OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATING THERETO.

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Executive Board of the Clark County Republican Party,

does hereby declare as follows:

SECTION 1.

The future of the Republican Party and the conservative values that we all hold dear are

in grave danger.

The Republican National Convention Committee on Rules and Order of Business, under

the chairmanship of Governor John Sununu and the guidance of political consultant and

lobbyist Benjamin Ginsberg, has proposed a new set of rules to govern the Republican

National Committee which would dramatically and forever change the nature of this

party.

One of these rules would empower the Republican National Committee itself to change

the rules in-between national conventions, essentially nullifying the role of the national

delegates in setting the rules of the party for the next four years, and instead allowing

national party elites to take absolute control of the GOP.

But of greatest significance are the new provisions which would permanently take the

power of presidential nominations out of the hands of the Republican base and hand it

over to the candidates and their consultants. Specifically, this new rule would coerce

every state party to bind their delegates, and give the candidates to whom they are

bound veto power over the credentials of those delegates.

This is a dreadful nationalization of the GOP that resembles the communist parties of

days gone by more than it does the Republican Party of Goldwater, Reagan and their

fore bearers. The Founding Fathers bequeathed to us a representative republic where

the power of the individual was to control and guide the political process. However,

these new proposed rules hearken back more to the Marxism of Lenin, Trotsky Clark County Republican Party

Version 1.0

and Stalin than they do to the conservative traditions of George Washington, Thomas

Jefferson and James Madison.

The Executive Board of the Clark County Republican Party, out of a deep love for our

country, our party and the principles of conservatism, call upon the delegates to the

2012 Republican National Convention to reject this power play. It is imperative that all

delegates join together to protect the right of our state parties and the Republican base

to guide the national party rules and the presidential nominating process, and to strike

these coercive, draconian provisions from the proposed rules that shame the legacy of

the Founding Fathers, this great country, and our Republican Party.

SECTION 2. This resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after its

passage at the close of the meeting of the Clark County Republican Party

Executive Board at which it was passed.

PASSED, ADOPTED, AND APPROVED this 27th day of August, 2012

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA

CLARK COUNTY REPUBLICAN CENTRAL COMMITTEE
