Authorities from the Drug Enforcement Administration’s pharmaceutical squad seized the largest quantity of illegal bath salts confiscated in the Austin area, according to a press release from the Williamson County sheriff’s office.
Jessie Olivieri, 27, was charged with possession of a controlled substance in connection with the seizure made Wednesday at 9400 West Parmer Lane, Apt. 322, in Austin in the Williamson County area, the release said.
The squad seized three kilograms of methylone, known as bath salts, the press release said. The bath salts were purchased in China and shipped to Olivieri, the release said. A law enforcement officer posing as a delivery man delivered the illegal narcotics to Olivieri at his home, according to the release.
Authorities also seized additional illegal drugs and three firearms, including astolen handgun at Olivieri’s residence, the release said.
The squad was made up of members of the Drug Enforcement Administration as well as the Williamson County sheriff’s office, the Austin Police Department and Williamson County Constable’s Office Precinct 2, the release said.
